General Summary
Register patients in a timely manner with accuracy in demographics to ensure the continuous patient flow and maintaining good customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- • Demonstrate daily in all job functions and interactions with patients, customers, coworkers, Managers, and physicians the mission and Standards of Behavior of Cypress Pointe Hospital.
- • Perform job duties professionally, consistently, and effectively to maintain and/or exceed assigned goals to support the success of the department and Cypress Pointe Surgical Hospital.
- • Answers the phones, greet patients, and communicates between patients and other department staff.
- • Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with patients, physicians, vendors, and employees of all departments.
- • Make daily charts, print face sheets and orders.
- • Enter correct admit date and time day of surgery or procedure.
- • Contact patients for patient responsibility in a timely manner.
- • Scan EKG’s, insurance letters, and any other paperwork needed to be in a patient’s medical record.
- • Collect, post, and log patient payments.
- • Obtain and save signed consent forms, call back sheets, Important Message from Medicare form.
- • Obtain ABN signatures on non-covered services for Medicare and Medicare product patients and scan document to patient account.
- • Responsible to obtain and scan orders insurance cards and driver’s license from all patients at time of registering.
- • Balance Daily Deposit Sheet and Cash drawer. Make daily deposit to safe at end of shift.
- • Confirm authorizations have been entered in the system when documented on the insurance sheet authorization is required. If required and no authorization listed, contact insurance verification immediately before registering patient for surgery or procedure.
- • Notify the appropriate department(s) when patient (s) has completed registration and ready to be seen by the next department.
- • Make daily deposit calls to patients with patient responsibility and/or outstanding balances. Document all efforts.
- • Verify and/or update all demographic, insurance, guarantor, and subscriber information is accurate at time of registering.
- • Handle all special requests appropriately and timely assigned from the Director of Patient Financial Services, OR Manager, and/or Administration.
- • Must be able to handle potentially stressful situations while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- • Must be able to multi-task and flex working schedule to ensure customer satisfaction, completion of job duties, and to support the operations of the Registration department.
- • Answer the phone in professional and courteous manner.
- • Demonstrates a consistent high degree of accuracy in accomplishments of daily activities.
- • Possess knowledge of scheduling procedures according to CPSH Policies.
- • Exhibits understanding of the various time requirements and resources for different procedures.
- • Possess a working knowledge of computer utilized for scheduling and data entry.
- • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA Compliance on a daily basis.
- • Establish work priorities related to customer satisfaction.
- • Attend department, hospital, and insurance meetings as required.
Education/Qualifications
- • Satisfactory completion of High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- • Minimum of two years of experience in the healthcare setting in registration, insurance verification and/or scheduling.
- • Excellent written and verbal communication.
- • Excellent organization and meticulous attention to detail.
