Dr. Jason Guillot is a highly skilled otolaryngologist at SLENT, an exceptional otolaryngology practice with three convenient locations in Louisiana. Dr. Guillot works out of the offices in Mandeville and Hammond. The Baton Rouge native graduated from Parkview Baptist High School. His career and athletic aspirations took him to Belhaven University, a small, liberal arts university in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi. There he played four years of collegiate NAIA baseball for the Blazers while successfully completing one of the more arduous pre-med educational curricula in the Southeast. Dr. Guillot attended medical school at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where he graduated magna cum laude. During those medical school years, Dr. Guillot discovered and nurtured a love for the anatomy and physiology of the head and neck. As a result, he chose to train and specialize in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (“Ear, Nose, and Throat”), performing a five-year surgical residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center under the tutelage of some of the most respected and accomplished faculty in the country. Dr. Guillot wasn’t done yet: He still desired further training in two additional subspecialties that he found intellectually stimulating and fascinating: facial plastic surgery and hair restoration surgery. To that end, he was able to secure a prestigious and competitive one-year fellowship with Dr. Daniel Rousso in Birmingham – one of the only fellowships in the United States to offer combined certification in both of these fields of medicine. In 2010, Dr. Guillot founded SLENT. Dr. Arthur Hess is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. His fellowship training in orthopedic traumatology allows him to treat complex conditions in nearly every part of the body. Dr. Hess specializes in pelvic and acetabular (hip socket) surgeries, hip and knee arthritis and joint replacement, hip preservation, and complex reconstruction of knee, pelvic and acetabular fractures.
Dr. Hess performs periacetabular osteotomies, a surgery that reorients a dysplastic (shallow) hip socket to improve coverage, minimize pain, and delay or even entirely prevent need for a hip replacement. For those patients with end-stage arthritis, Dr. Hess performs his minimally invasive hip replacements through the direct anterior approach, meaning the joint is accessed from the front. This approach spares muscles, in contrast to conventional posterior hip approaches, that require dividing muscle groups to access the joint. This approach may lead to smaller incisions, less muscle disruption, and a faster recovery. Recently, Dr. Hess was honored to take on the role of chairman for the Louisiana Arthritis Foundation. He earned is B.A. in mathematics and biology from the University of Dallas in 2004, and his M.D. degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2009.
