Dr. Cathy Zhang specializes in chronic pain medicine at Louisiana Pain Institute with offices in Covington and Denham Springs, Louisiana. She is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine. Dr. Zhang earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh with a dual major in neuroscience and business. She then pursued her medical degree at the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans, where she earned a distinctive honor award for outstanding student in medical microbiology.
Dr. Zhang later completed her anesthesiology and perioperative medicine residency training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. There, she was recognized for her clinical excellence in pain medicine and was awarded the prestigious J. Antonio Aldrete Award for Excellence in Pain Medicine. Dr. Zhang completed her fellowship in chronic pain medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she learned a multidisciplinary approach to pain management by working with anesthesiologists, neurologists, surgeons, psychiatrists, and physical medicine and rehabilitation doctors. Dr. Zhang lives in the northshore area of Louisiana with her fiancé, John, and their golden retriever, Jasper. Pastimes include learning new sports, hiking, being out on the water, and fishing.
